The South Island Yearling Sales were a huge success with massive increases on all statistics including a mean of $15,000 (up from $6000 in 2015). Our draft of ten were very well received and sold accordingly. We wish all the purchasers the very best of luck with these lovely yearlings.
Pear Tree Farm was delighted to secure a stunning filly by Coolmore shuttle stallion ‘Excelebration’ out of tough racemare ‘Mamma’s Love’. This strong filly will be presented at the 2017 South Island Yearling Sale. The Weanling Sale was a very strong sale and it is fabulous to see breeders finally making a return on their investments. Not so good for pinhookers like us looking for a bargain buy, but great for the industry as a whole.
We have been busy pre-training Rionius and a Captain Rio two year old. Rionius has had three starts for us for a 2nd and a 3rd and we are really excited about his upcoming campaign.
