New foals at Pear Tree Farm

Pear Tree Farm - Proisir-Joan's Girl FillySpring is well and truly here with luscious green grass everywhere. We have welcomed one foal so far this year and have another due at the start of November. ‘Joan’s Girl‘ produced an absolutely stunning chestnut filly by first season sire ‘Proisir‘. Our other mare ‘Optic‘ (sister to ‘Gaze‘) is due soon to ‘Shocking‘.

We have been excitedly following the progress of progeny in the Northern Hemisphere by ‘Excelebration‘ who currently is the sire of 18 2yo winners. The filly that we purchased in May as a weanling is by ‘Excelebration’ out of the fast mare ‘Mamma’s Love‘ who won 5 in Singapore. The filly is an outstanding type and we will be offering her for sale at the 2017 South Island Sale.
We haven’t had much luck on the racing front recently. ‘Hot Pants‘ was retired and returned to her owners and has been mated with ‘Reliable Man‘. ‘Rionius‘ was caught up in the strangles saga at Ashburton which delayed his return to the track. When we did finally get to start, he had the outside barrier and couldn’t get a run. He was due to start at Oamaru but the meeting was postponed by four days and in the meantime he has injured himself and will need some time off.
A visit to Cambridge and Matamata in late August for the Stallion Parade was a very enjoyable and worthwhile weekend for us. It is always great to see the stallions in the flesh and catch up with old friends again.
We do still have spaces available for yearling preparation for the 2017 South Island Sale, so feel free to get in contact with us if you are thinking about selling your yearling.
