Big changes with the April Sales

Big changes with the April SalesBig changes for us this year with the South Island Sales being held in April. We had a successful sale which saw Pear Tree Farm finish third on the leaders table for average price of horses sold. We wish the purchasers of those horses all the best of luck with them.

We passed in our own Captain Rio colt and have finished breaking him in and he is currently undergoing his first preparation in the Champion and Murphy Racing Stable in Ashburton.

Unfortunately our lovely racehorse Knowing who is based in Waverley with Rosie Gibbs sustained an injury to his tendon during a track gallop and is to be rested for a while to recover. A real shame as he was only a week away from racing again.

I attended the weanling sales in May and was delighted to secure a daughter of Iffraaj out of a stakesplaced mare and a quality colt by Ekaar in partnership with a friend. Both of these horses will be offered at the 2015 South Island Sale.

Michael and I were able to get away for a break to Melbourne. We visited Living Legends Farm where we were humbled to meet past champions from the tracks including Silent Witness, Rogan Josh, Might and Power, Efficient and Apache Cat.

Spring is just around the corner and we are already enjoying the longer days.
